Part P Training for Bristol and South West England

Part P of the current Building Regulations states that all fixed domestic electrical installations must be suitably installed, tested and inspected to ensure they are safe for use. This means that when performing electrical work on a domestic dwelling, Building Control needs to be notified for them to send out an external inspector. As you can imagine, this can rack up a considerable additional cost.

However, with a Part P certificate, electricians are able to self-certify their own work in accordance with building regulations, saving them time as well as money in completing their day to day work. Earning this vital qualification isn’t as hard as you may think either; our Part P training course available to candidates across the South West.

What does a Part P qualification mean for me?

As stated earlier, your completion of our Part P electrical course will allow you to complete a wide variety of electrical installations in domestic dwellings and legally self-certify them. Here are just a few examples of the kind of work you’ll be able to do:
  • Maintenance work in homes and gardens that require new circuitry
  • Electrical work in combined business/domestic premises that share an electrical supply (for example, shops and pubs)
  • Communal areas in blocks of flats (excluding lifts)
  • Extensions and loft conversions (The safety requirement will be applicable to alterations and additions to existing installations, including rewires, as well as to the new construction).
With a Part P qualification opening so many doors for new electrical installers, it’s no surprise that many consider it the ideal place to start when beginning a career as an electrician. If, following completion of the Part P electrical course, you would then like to further your training, just let us know and we’ll guide you in the right place to go next.

Who is it suitable for?

Anyone working with or performing electrical installations in a domestic environment will benefit from achieving a Part P certificate. This doesn’t just mean professional electricians – plumbers, kitchen fitters, alarm installers, heating engineers, handymen and even gardeners are just a few of the professions that can make use of this qualification.
